Hi All,
I September I bought from Sitepoint this website. It was cheap $110 with $10 income per month from ad-sense and around 150 unique visitors a day.
I paid and moved it to my server and I got the same results as the seller said. $10 a month income and the traffic were about the same.
But I felt sorry for this website… I didn’t know a thing about After effect so the site was ‘dead’ relaying on old tutorials. This is not a good situation for a website no mater how good is the content. I’ve tried to find some people to post new tutorials but they were expensive.
So I’ve decided to sell… I put it on Digital point because I think this forum is better for small websites like this one. I got an offer of $150 and sold it without any problem. So together with the ad-sense income I made $80 from this website. Not a lot… but I didn’t do anything a part to transfer it to my server.
Again I learnt not to buy a website that I don’t understand a thing about it. Very important lesson

Current bid: $150

2) Voice-msg.com – This is more like a test to see how people will value the site.
Minimum bid: $500

Hi all,
It is the worst time to sell your website. Google are doing some updates and it changes websites’ PR quite often.
So you post an ad saying: “For sale PR5 website”
But then people response and asking why they see PR0… embracing and decrease the value of your site.
Although I think PR is not that important it gives you good indication if Google likes the site. And if you have high PR you can sell links which is good source of income.
So what should you do?
First check you PR in all data centers:
http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_checker
Then if you get varies results, give this tool to the potential buyers.
But I think it is better to wait a bit. It is a bit risky because you can loose your PR, but then again you can gain some
Good luck,
Assaf
Hello All,
Here is another example that shows that the market is up:
http://www.sitepoint.com/marketplace/auction/3788?
What you get here?
A nice website with nice design
PR4
Not a lot of traffic
And a forum with 3500 posts
At the moment someone bid $800 for it. Meaning 0.25 per post!
So do you think that a forum with 20000 worth $5000? maybe. It seems that people are looking for established websites and don’t really care about income too much.
So if you have a busy website without income you can still sell it for relative expensive.
And what about the sites with income? They are really expensive and reach the point when I can’t find any website worth investing. I guess I should look somewhere else then sitepoint…

Hello all,
Have a look here:
http://www.sitepoint.com/marketplace/auction/3710?
This site has been sold after 3 hours for the requested price ($500). Let’s see what this site offer:
PR0
2000 unique users per month
3 months age
250 users
3000 posts.
No income.
A year ago this website would go around $200. Now it seems to me that people are willing to pay a lot more. If you can offer a decent website with nice design and a bit of traffic, you can mage huge profit.
I think that for small websites income is not relevant anymore. It is the design and the traffic that count.

Hi all,
This is the most difficult question when you have to ask yourself before your put your site for sale. There are many factors that can influence the price. The most common rule that many people refer to is the income. Take the monthly income multiply it by 12 or 15 and get the value of your site.
This rule is simple but ignores many other factors.
I will try to give a list of the factors that you need to consider ordered by importance:
* Income – Costs : It is nice to have $1000 income a month but if you spent $1500 to get it, it is not that good…
* Google ranking for keywords : This is very important. If you have high ranking with Google for competitive keywords it worth a lot of money.
* Age : The older the site is better. New site worth much less.
* Traffic : The more traffic you have your site worth more. Simple as that.
* Complex : Does it a simple website or very complicated website i.e. online game?
* Potential : Does it a unique concept with potential to grow?
* Reputation : Does you website is well known?
* Google PR : You know the little green scale on Google toolbar that drives webmaster crazy.
Also try to be fair. When you sell a website it is better to say ‘I don’t know how to promote it’ instead of ‘I don’t have time to promote it’
This is why people buy websites. They think they can do a better job then you…
Happy New Year,
